I was wondering what's the best way to remove rust on moldboard on plow ?? sandblast or a wire brush on a porable grinder...or is there another way ?? Also after I get them clean, how do I keep them from rusting again ?? I reminder as a kid we use to get the grease bucket and smear grease on them...now all I got is a TUBE of grease.. Want to THANK any and ALL advice in advance....THANK YOU.....MV

Yup, just stick it in the ground unless it's severely pitted. We always try to put a coat of cheap spray paint on the wear parts after. The paint rubs off very quickly next time, in most cases in 100 ft. or less.

Plow with it. That will clean the boards up quicker and easier than anything, unless you want to clean the backs up too? Sandblasting should be the best on them. Beyond that, I go to wally world and get the cheap rattle cans of green enamel (my plow has green wear parts). A little better than 1 can covers 4 large boards on my plow, and it's cheaper than greasing them. That said, a lot of people do grease the boards. To each their own.

As Ken says. You probably won't make more then one or 2 passes and it will be like chrome. Now if you want it looking even better find some sand/gravel and plow that and it will really shine it up

The best way I have found to clean up rust on moldboards is to put the plow in the ground.

Plow until they shine up. In most cases it won't
take too long unless they are heavily rusted and pitted. I use grease to coat my moldboards but i have heard other people spray a light coat of tremclad paint on theirs.

Best way is to plow until they shine.I shine mine by using a mixture of grease and waste oil. I apply it with a paint brush.
