I would be grateful for any help on the following;

1. Are the knotters on the NH268 capable of using plastic and sisal twine. So far I have only used sisal but it is difficult to find and I would like to change if it's not a big deal.

2. What is the best way to sharpen the knives in the baling chamber? Is it ok to use an angle grinder or a file? Do they have to be taken out first?

Thanks very much.

i use only Bridon poly twine excellent results. Farm store usually handle 140 knot stuff. I have to run the 170 knot strength. I order it direct from the factory.

Answer to the first question is yes. As far as the knives go, I've never heard of sharpening them in the baler. I suppose someone here will say they have done, but it would have to be a lousy job. Steve

Thanks - I will take the knives out for sharpening.
Would you recommend any particular type or gauge of plastic twine to use as a replacement for sisal? Also, would the tension need to be looser for plastic twine?

You can sharpen the knives with a grinder from the back if you take the shoot off( only if the bolts are to hard to get out of the knives). I had plastic but the knot would come loose from time to time. Might just be my baler too?? You will have to play with the adjustments to get what you need. Shouldn't make a difference on thickness, just as long it says it is for a square baler and not round.
