Alright, got the spreader 98% done and painted. One problem though. Found that the bearing on the one side was turning on the spindle, and was not greased that well from previous person, so now I need to replace that spindle but cant see how it comes off.. Does any one know how these come out/ off. I was thinking I could bring it in to a machine shop and get the spindle fixed or replaced with a new match. But please.... some one give me an idea how to get it off.

all there is on mine is a nut holding it all in. Maybe leave the tire on to see if you can jar it off.

Well, my Pa got her off. I tell ya, you ol guys in yer 60's and up seem to be able to do everything, with just about anything. Us younger guys seem to think we need every tool they make to make it simple and save time, or we seem to give up and pay some one else to do it. Thank God for your generations!

Can't tell you how to get the spindle off- but here's a trick to enlarge a bearing surface: Use a center punch to ding up the shaft with multiple dimples across the entire width and diameter of the shaft. It can enlarge it enough to provide good contact to the bearing so it will not turn. Another handy thing- braze grease fittings into the bearing caps so greasing is easy. Does not replace pulling the wheels annually, but lets you keep things lubed in between times.
