Ford 542 baler

I need some used parts for a Ford 542 baler,I need the plunger and a couple of hay dogs. I think what happened is the hay dog came loose and the plunger got in a bind and it pulled the plunger arm from the bearing housing,it brke the 1/2'' bolt so I replaced it with a grade 8 bolt and ran it to see what had happened and then I found the broken hay dog laying on the ground so I figure this caused it and the crank arm came around and hit the plunger and bend it up I may can straighten it and fix it but a nother plunger would be better. Thanks

I just looked in my 532/542 parts book. The plungers are different but the hay dogs are the same. So if you find a 532 being parted out, take the hay dogs, but don't waste your money on the plunger....it won't work in your 542.

Thanks for the info, I had a man call me yesterday about putting the knotter back together on a Ford 542,he is about a hour drive and I told him to bring it to me and he said he couldn't find anybody that knew how to put it back together and he needed to cut hay so I told him when he brought it to me that I would trade my 542 for his it is working fine except the plunger got bent and the broken hay dog,so we swapped balers and I will fix this one when I get a chance. Mine was working fine but I hate to see the plunger bent. Sometimes you have to believe that there is a God,because I couldn't be that lucky.

I have a 542, but I don't have a spare. There's a 532 in my town that looks like it might be available. I've been meaning to see if I could obtain it for parts but haven't had time. I know a lot of parts are the same on the 532 and 542 but I don't know about the plunger.

You might try e-bay there have been a lot of ford balers on there recently
