I have rebuilt a 14-2 dearborn mowing machine to use on a 96 - 1715 ford/new holand . Posted pictures . Machine is the first ford built for three point hitch , Is made to shake to keep bar clean but shaking releases built in ratchet/ clutch in tractor , causing PTO to stop . at first I thought was something wrong with tractor but tractor PTO drives Brush hog and other eqpt. fine just won"t drive mowing machine . Hooked to friends 8N and works fine . He might have him a good machine as I completly rebuilt it . does enyone have any suggestions .

You mean the over running part of the tractor drivetrain is releasing on you & the pto stops working? Sounds like something ain't right on the tractor, how many hours on it????

Too new of a tractor for me to know anything about. Do they have some way of sensing excessive vibration in a pto shaft that is unbalanced and would shut it off.

I have a 1720, and I'm a bit baffled by this. ;) It's just a 2-stage clutch in the 1720, same as any other 2-stage machine.

There is also a ratchet in the reat end of these tractors like the ones you buy for the 8N's to keep attachment from driving tractor .I think this is the problem ,the vibration of the mower is causing rollers in ratchet to release . I was trying to find out if anyone else has had this problem . This winter I plan to replace ratchet asslembly "three parts" & see if that helps , I have a lot of time and money in this mowing machine not to be able to use it .

That is intresting to hear. A question that I have is how in the world could you run a small square baler with that tractor. It would seem that the ratchet would be releasing and grabbing all the time you wer trying to bale. I wonder if in the future they might wish they had never thought of it.

Yea, the internal deal. Never, ever heard of that releasing on any tractor. The dogs should always re-catch, vibration or no. I think you have 'issues' that are not normal.

I am not trying to dispute any ideas anyone has just trying to see if anyone has any ideas . on what is causing the PTO to do this . that was only thing I could come up with , any other ideas
I really like the little tractor is real good on WV hill sides with Wheels turned around . Is real close ti 8N in weight 2135 lb & power 27 HP .
