Aint she a bute? She was born on Friday somewhere around 3:30-4:00 in the afternoon. My mom was really hoping for a girl out of this one because it'll probably be Midge's last calf and she's just a good ol' girl in the barn and one of our favorites. We're gonnne keep her around for a while yet, but winter may be hard one her.

My mom held off on getting her breed even just to reduce the burden on the ol gal last winter. She's getting slow, has a sore hoof, and she can't quite manuver as good as she used to.

O well, we'll keep her as long as she can still get around....

By the way, this makes a nice pen of 4 girls that Mom was hoping for.

Nah, I think it's more of a Massey calf. Her mom is Midge, her name is Madonna, her neice is Manda.... If you don't hapen to see a pattern here...

And to think, about 1/3 of our heard is red holsteins, and they all got started from just one black with a red factor in her!
