It's been so crazy around here I'm not even sure where to start anymore.... Yesterday I finally got the neighbor's disk fixed up after the axel snapped off. I spent the whole day welding, chipping slag, welding, painting, tightening wheel bearings, remounting tires, etc etc....
I left the loose gang for them to deal with..

Today I was going to put our swamp cutter back together today, but all of a sudden my mom got a call saying she didn't have to watch the grandson anymore, so I changed gears after having the haybine tore apart hooked onto the rake and doubled it up. It was dryer than dry, (cut on Sunday, extremely hot weather almost all week) but we work with what we got when we got it including drivers.... I started using the wheel rake, but some of the stuff was left behind so I got out the old Oliver #2 rake and used that unstead, worked pretty good to, until the chain came off.

While I was working on that, the guy who runs our oats came bombing in the feild to check the oats, and they started running the oats standing within about 2 hours. It was realy dry and they got it BEFORE the weeds came up, so it was DRY, and they could actually run the header close to the ground to get most of the stubble.

They put it in their auger truck so they'll run it in our bin tomorrow, we don't have to touch it one bit. We finally got the hay done 352 bales later, and now tomorrow we gotta adjust the bale length and run one load of oat straw bales, chop the rest and hope it fits into our 2 chopper boxes because the straw mow isn't anywhere near being ready. If it doesn't fit, we'll have to borrow the neighbors wagon(s) if we need to.

Did I mention we're gonna be parking cars in these feilds starting Sunday night, all the way through Friday? The Pyrotechnics Guild is having their annual convention at the race track about 1 mile to the east of us, and this money is gonna help put up our shed/work shop?

PLus we gotta get the feild ready for parking, mow the hay, and find a place to put the baled oat straw. Somewhere in there, we'd like to start working in the straw mow and I'd like to get the swamp cutter together so I can cut the swamps and blow it all in the mow the same weekend...

Sounds like fun right?

"The Pyrotechnics Guild" as in fire, sparks and small explosions? Do they have demos going during their get together?

Yup, some of the fireworks are brand spanking new, never seen before expensive mortars and such. On the last night, Friday, they're gonna try to set a new world record for lighting 9 million firecrackers at once! They don't have anything on Thursday night, but the rest of the week they put on a show.

They were here 5 years ago for the first time, I guess they really liked the area so they came back. Our feilds have some of the best veiws of the air show, but unfortunatley we won't be able to see any opf the ground stuff, like the firecrackers.

It's actually the PGI, Pyrotechnics Guild International, and they go all over the country. I guess we're lucky they came back again, even after they complained about all those damn farmers who wouldn't rent the feilds out to them for parking, only to turn around and park cars themselves!! (that would have been us, along with almost all the others....)
