I picked up my 1032 bale wagon from Roeder Implement. Really nice people. A couple of things though. One is that I understood that they went through the Bale Wagons completely, to make sure everything is up to snuff. Well, the pickup chain on the bale loader will have to be changed. I pointed it out to Albert, and he didn't think it was any big deal, but he gave me a flyer to Herschel Equip, so that I could order a chain if I wanted. (I found out you must have an account with Herschel to order from them). Two, I had asked them if the tires were good, as I had to tow the wagon 900 miles. They told me the tires were good. The tires had thread showing on them. I had to pay them $100 more to get 2 tires (blems) changed out on the wagon. Anyway, they were friendly people, but things were not as I expected.

I finally got to talk to Mr. Roeder about the pick-up chain on the bale loader. Without hesitation, he said he would ship me a chain via UPS. He added that sometimes things get by the men in the shop. So, now I just have to get the chain.

I finally got the 1030 balewagon ready and we run it friday and got the bugs out and learned how to run it and then saturday we picked up 900 bales with it easy with no problems besides stacking which I need to practice on,holding the stack up I don't know how we got by with out it. Hate to hear about the dealings with Roeder,I don't know much about them. Where is that company that has the chains,do they have any other parts available? Tom

That sounds great! I can"t wait to get mine going. The company that is suppose to have replacement parts is herchel-adams.com
Their phone number is 800 247 2167. I called them, and they are suppose to send us a catalog. My brother, who is running a tractor repair shop, and I will be looking into establishing an account with them. I"ll let you know what happens. By the way, a man from Ft Worth told me square bales are bringing $15 each, there! Round bales are going for $120 a ton!

Something I noticed when I got home, was that they had told be that had checked all the wheel bearings, but when I got home, I saw that there was a grime buildup around the grease caps, that obviously was old, and there was no indication that the grease cap had been pulled. How did they check the bearings? By spinning the wheel? ????? ?? Anyway, Yeah, buyer beware. I did call them up, and told Tom that both tires had thrown the tread on the hot pavement, before I got to Oklahoma.

I think I would either call them or write them a letter about the bale wagon not being road worthy
as they promised. Even hauling heavy loads of bales they should've known those tires should have been replaced. The pickup chain should've been replaced too. Sounds like they just gave it
a tire kicking inspection and didn't look at the tires. It may be a wakeup call for them if you write them. Hal

I have called them twice, but cannot seem to catch the owner at the shop, only his foreman. I will keep trying though. He may be very willing to right the wrongs.

If he doesn't respond to your calls send him a letter. Since they they never touched the wheel bearings, you know they never even looked at this bale wagon. They also knew you were taking the bale wagon a long distance they probably figured,
"out of sight, out of mind". Hal

I called him again today, and left a message with his secretary. They had done a couple of repairs, but what they did was absolutely necessary for it to work. We"ll see what they do. I was really ticked when I saw the wheel bearing caps, when they told me that they had checked them. Guess you can"t take anyone"s word for anything, but must check everything yourself.

I would bet they didn't even kick the tires. Keep after them, I don't think they would want to be treated that way. Hal
PS: I heard that it's been hot and dry in OK.

It was hot and dry there! No hay to be had, with out trucking it in. I live on the gulf coast, in southeast Texas. It is raining 5 out of every 7 days here. Doesn't matter that we have hay to cut, you can't cut it with the rain!

Too much rain is worse than not enough. During June a lot of farmers lost hay that was down. By the time it had dried off the hay was ruin. There will be a lot of price increases in the stores. The corn crop looks to be ok. Hal

I lost about 400 bales of hay to the rain. What part of the country do you live in?

I had the same experience about 3 years ago. We bought a 1002 from them that had supposedly been through their shop and completely refurbed. We had bearings obviously out on the pickup chain. I just plain missed it when we were inspecting it on the lot. Buyer beware and don't take anything for granted. We were lucky. We did make it home (which was only 150 miles).

Good feedback and also very disappointing. I have read so much good about them over the years and to hear about your experience is a big concern. I know if I traveled that far to get a machine I would hope that it was described accurately.
