I currently have a NH273 that I have been very happy with (without the thrower I really should have), but need to make a fairly quick decision on a 310 with a thrower... at what appears to be a good price. ($2,500.00 Canadian) The only obvious problem is a lot of play in the feed carriage----which I am hoping can be remedied with shimms or with new wear blocks.{a yes or no on that would be nice too!}
Ive gone through 2 pages of archives at snail dialup speed and haven't got a whole lot of help.
Would you wise souls please give me the good, bad, and downright ugly on the 310. Should I bite or pass?

As always, thanks a ton guys for all the help you give us!!!

Lee

I also have a 310 and have the same problem with bannana bales. Sounds like bigger windrows may help. Will try that next year. Bought mine from my dad and he said alfalfa bailed up square but grass was always bannana shaped.I have tried different things to help but no real luck. Other than that it has ben a good baler. Price wise I would have to agree, It seemes to high.

Feeder carriage is a high maintance item. Also, the spring loaded arm that drives it has been discontinued. Be careful spending too much for a "flat track" style baler. Steve

I can't give you much advice as to what you are asking, but I do own a NH310 baler. Bought it new over 25 yrs ago. Mine does not have a thrower on it, just a bale chute. My biggest complaint about it is that it makes "banana bales" when the windrows are light. To me, banana bales are light, misshaped bales. When the windrows are big and heavy, the baler makes very good bales, probably 80lbs or better. Can't give you any advice on the price really. The feed mechanism on mine is still good shape but haven't run all that many bales thru it over the years, since I went to big round bales, when my help left home. LOL

Up top, type in 310 baler in the search field and you'll find all kinds of stuff. Based on what I have read I would think long and hard about buyin a 310. It would have to be a real good deal. 2,500 CD, is not good enough for me.
