Friend stop by today and siad he could make a deal on a case baler, hes going to trade a gun for it. I don't know what model it is but will be looking at it before he does the trade. He said it had a sheared pick up shear pin. Is that any thing to worry about?? Thanks for any info

Forgot to tell you the shear pin (grade 5 bolt) no problem as long as you make sure it is retimed before running it under power. If not it will shear the main shear pin on the fly wheel when it tries to tie. That is, "IF" the safety latch underneath is working properly. If it isn't plan on buying some spare needles. By the way mine is PTO driven, why mess with an extra motor?

I have a Case 200 baler that I bought used over 35 years ago. It has given excellent service. I have used parts fron a 210, 220, and 230. All are basically the same. Very seldom misses tying a bale. Usually only one when it switches from one twine bundle to the next. I bale about 2500 bales a year with it.. One caution be sure the thing is not rusted out if it has spent a lot of time setting outdoors.

Ive got a 140W Case baler that, ive been told baled up most of this township in the 660s, 70s 80s. It has a 4 cyl Case air cooled engine on it. I broke a chain last year that caused the needles to be broke. There are only 16 needles left for it and there $150 ea. I have found that a certain spring, that if it breaks will cause the same thing, is unavailable with case, as is the flat belt to run the engine to the flywheel Im having a SLOW time retiming it. Id greatly advise replacing the chains as soon as u get it. Also, parts are HARD to find, even used.

Have a 230 that has gave good service for 30+years. For the most part a simple machine as balers go. bob

They seem to be ok. Our neighbors always ran a case. They have a much slower plunger stroke at full pto rpm's, so the bale has only 6-8 flakes, instead of the normal 12-15 in good hay. Can't say much else, but they seem to be alright.

I'll watch for your next post to see what model it is. I have an old 133 that has baled 25,000 bales over the first 6 years I've had it. Mines Wisconsin powered and it puts out a pretty darned nice bale.
