Anyone ever replace NH Baler Carriage bushings?

My feeder carriage shafts, rollers and bushings are worn out and the frame broken as it turns out. I have it apart to rebuild but was only able to drift out two of six bushings. The others are so worn that there is no lip for the drift to catch. I can't get to them with a 7/8" drill either because they go in from the inside of the carriage frame. Suggestions? I have already tried to chisel one out and made a mess without progress....

I am not familiar w/your project but you could try to shrink the bushings with dry ice and possibly then knock them out.If that doesn't work and heating is an option without causing any local damage, then heat the bushings to red heat. When everything cools off you should be able to pick them out with your fingers.Just be sure that all hay or other combustables are well away from the heating area.

I thought of heat but the bushings are aluminum and will expand more than the frame and I didn't think they would fast enough, but that is what I am going to try today. I didn't think of dry ice but that will likely work too, so I'll get some on the way home from work. Thanks!

If the bushings are aluminum with no steel backing you should be able to melt them out with a torch as aluminum melts at a considerablly lower temp than steel.

My mistake, bearings are a light steel alloy. Heating and dry ice have so far done nothing. I am going to have to be more creative.
