JM, I thought I'd let you know what I have done with the Vermeer 504G. I made some new guides and installed them. Rotated some guides like you suggested. I made a plate with slotted holes with a pusher block and adjusting screw for the bearing on the 3rd shaft back from the front of the baler. I dropped the side of the roller that was "high" 1/4 inch. The belts are now running about 1/8 to 3/16 inch away from the guides all the way across with the baler running empty at 540 pto speed. I'd like to see them further away from the guides than. But, at least, the belts aren't rubbing against the guides now. I don't think I really want to drop the roller too much more. After working on this awile, I think the real problem may be the belt tension is not the same-one side vs. the other. I don't see anyway to adjust the tension on the large springs though. I suppose it could be a belt length problem too. It still a couple weeks until the next cutting. I'll be able to see what it does then. If you, or anyone else, have any more ideas, let me know.
