I found a fellow who has a IH trail type 7 foot sickle mower. Said he has not used it for two years or so. Was in good condition then but has set outside in MN weather. Said it had a steel pitman but was belt driven. Also, said his WD would sometimes blow out the end of the hyd. cyl. and have to have a new seal. Is WD pressure that high or is the cyl. worn out? He did not know the model #. Appreciate any advise/help.

The allis hyd system run very high hyd preassure but very low GPM. The C I have by the book puts out something like 3000PSI at about 1 or 2 GPM. As far as steel pitman/ wood the wood takes up a lot of shock the the steel will not and because of that the steel can/will cause problems unles the sickle mower was made to have a steel pitman in the first place

IH stick mowers have a belt to run the pitman, wood absorbs shock of the sickle, WD is high pressure. The old IH stick mowers are good but I bought my 120 balanced head for $4oo.oo in decent shape and is a much better mower than the old ones. He's about $350.00 too high if it's a stick mower, buy an IH 100series or a NH

I bought like that for $75 a few years ago. Saw another at a dealer that I thought about getting for parts, but he wanted $600. As the others said, he"s way too high at $400.
