I bought a little offset disk at auction the other day and need to identify it. It is 6 ft wide with 9 disk on each end it has 5 disk on one side and 4 on the other with 3 inch shafts that are threaded on each end with large nuts that are 2 1/2 pipe threads. It has 2 independent axles for the wheels and the wheels are 9 inch. The only numbers are on the spools HWP 83 and they have the IH logo on them. I need to find the big nuts and 1 spool and one of the short axles that nold the 4 disk. sure would appreciate some info Thanks Bill

I'm little unclear of what your describing.

First of all a "offset disc" has just two gangs or axles for the blades to ride on.

A front gang set an an angle and a back gang set at the opposite angle.

A "tandem disc" has four gangs or axles for the blades. The front two gangs form a vee and the back two gangs form an inverted vee.

Maybe they are called differant names in differant parts of the country but thats what there called here in this area.

Now do you have a tandem or a offset disc?

What diameter are the disc blades?

Is it 3pt. mounted or a hydraulic lift wheel disc?

Just trying to help. Gary

Gary, the offset discs do have two axles per gang, one with 5 blades and the other with 4 blades fot a total of 4 bearings per gang or 8 bearings total. That is what the one I had was like. He also said he has a wheel carried as it has the 9" carry wheels that used the 4:00X9" tire that was used on different cycle bar mowers and hay rakes. Now to Bill, The Only offset disc that I know of that was made in that size that was a wheel carried unit is a J. I. Case. I was thinking they were 12" wheels but could have been 9". The size of the axles does not sould correct tho.

When I put this post on I could not remember the brand of mine. Remember noe it was Towner and they made for other companys as well. Mine was hydrolic angle controll and a JD KBA 6 on a side )7 1/2') workrd perfectly behind the Towner and kept the Towner running in a straight line and 50 HP was plenty to handle both

Thanks for info this thing has a ihc part # on each spool. I nevewr saw one like it it has an axle inside this 3 inch pipe then the spools fit over the pipe the inside of pipe has a bushing on each end that the shaft runs in and the disc and spools are held and tightned with a huge hex nut that screws over the pipe. I think I bought a pile of scrap iron. Thanks . Bill
