Talk about a ruined day. I had to leave work to go home, as y wife found that the 4 wheeler she was useing last night to pull a manure trailer out of the barn, had been stolen. The thief had unhooked the trailer, and hauled buns on it. My daughter had got up early in the morning, about 1:30am, to let her little dog out, and noticed it was not hooked to the trailer, but thought I had moved it. My wife had worked on horse stalls until about 11pm, so there is your slot. These people were brazen. My wife was still up watching TV until after 2AM. The best we can tell, they probably came while she was in the shower, so she did not notice the dogs barking. Ha! Neither did anyone else. Sure ruins your day.

In this area if it is metal it will be stolen I have a farm about 45 miles from where I live I had unused items stored- old corn planter, Set of tandem disk, two utility trailers, 83 chev truck frame complete wheels brakes steering box, about 100 sheets of 12' tin roofing , 400 ft of entrance cable #6 alum. cut down from poles while Hot & even cut wiring out of 16'/16' picknick shed . They cut lock on gate and stole it all yet no one ever sees anything they seem to be invisable you call 911 some one will come about 3 days later & make report that is the last you ever hear of it . But they keep raising taxes .

WOW! They didn"t leave much. Where do you live? I am in Southeast Texas. We did recover the 4 wheeler. It had been dumped in a flooded dirt pit. If they wanted to dump it, why didn"t they just leave it on the side of a road?

They didn't leave anything I am in the process of having timber sold & have For Sale sign on Farm that has been in family since 1909 Just can't take care of something 45 miles away have to trailer farm tractor from home everytime I use it have Ford/New Holand 1715 about same spec. as 8N small enough to haul but still does good job . Don't dare leave it on farm as they have also cleaned out out buildings . Makes one want to drop a cap on someone , you work all your life to buy what you have then to have someone steal it from you & the LAW doesn't seam to care .

It has been recovered! The jerks ditched it in a flooded dirt pit. It was floating upside down, with just the tips of the tires showing. We got it out and had it running about 2 hours later.

Was it insured? I try not to sweat this kind of stuff. I havent lost much, knock on wood but on the occassion that I just call the state police and the insurance company. What I hate is people yanking batteries and hand tools, little stuff that you dont notice and doesnt hit the deductable. I realize we all pay for it in the long run with higher premiums but it isnt worth ulcers.

If you have serial number of this machine give it to every dealer and repair shop within 75 miles this sometimes is your best route . and a picture of it in local paper with a hundred or two hundred dollar reward after all crack heads will rat each other out fast .

You still need to notify as many repair shops and dealers as you can since not all get the hot sheets with for stolen units ,I hold my breath as well everytime mine has to sit out for long .And if your unit was not sitting out in plain view I would start thinking about somebody that knew that you had it to start with usually always turns out to be somebody that you know or knew .

Yeah, I agree. I did contact a couple of the local repair shops asap. The 4 wheeler had been pulled out of the back of the barn, in the dark, and was only partially visible, unless you were close. It was stolen by someone who knew the where-abouts. There is a suspect in jail right now, that is believed to have taken it. When the police started investigateing him, they found other stolen property, so they put him in jail for that, but our 4 wheeler is still at large.

I am planning to do the reward thing/with picture, if the Sheriff does not recover it in a couple of days. The VIN # is now in the national system. Keeping my fingers crossed.

welcome to the country! i've known guys who had scoop shovels stolen. a little over a year ago someone stole two farrowing crates i had sitting outside.some are druggies , some are merely thieves. remember they wouldnt steal it if there wasnt someone willing to buy it. we've had a car stolen 50' from the house parked under a night light. an old neighbor who has since passed away, told me about them drugging his dog. placing it in the back of his pickup which was in the garage. unhooking the automatic transmision and rolling it outside to steal his john deere riding mower which was the hot item of the time.

When I moved out there, in '80, you never had to worry about this stuff. Now that civilization has caught up, we are doomed!!!!

Know how you feel. A couple weeks ago we came home from vacation in Colorado to find some scum had broken in and stolen the kids coin collections, a sack of silver dollars and old silver, $200 cash out of my daughters bill fold and a few more odds and ends. But hey, the sheriffs dept says they got a 19% success rate at solving burgularies so being a thief looks like a pretty good part time job. Jim

Sometimes you can't win. I would like to know a way to make a cheap NoJack. Connect an old cell phone to a GPS so that you can call it and it will indicate its location.
I just bought a loader frame and unloaded it across the road from the house. Some one brought their tools and stole the cylinders in the night.

Makes you wonder why try to have anything? These people were brazen. You would think they would worry about lead flying around. I mean, heck, I live out in the country, and like others, law enforcement is not always around.

Yeah, never had a lock locked for years, now-if it isnt locked insurance wont cover it and its gone befor you turn around. May be time to go back a ways. We had a chicken thief and a tool thief learn the hard way that a door handle can bite. Dad used to wire them up to a mag. I would recommend being very cautious about the shooting. I came close, had 911 on the line told them if they got in the shot gun was going off, after the police got there I was almost charged with threatning the burglers and keeping a loaded gun. I think the judge, who hopefully will be voted out this year, is still wishing he could charge me. Bob
