We were trying to combine wheat to day and cannot get it to go into the feederhouse. When it gets to it it is standing up and will not go into the feederhouse. We adjusted everything according to the book and it does not go into the feederhouse. Can anybody tell us what is wrong. When we bought it they said it done a lot of wheat and the head and the feederhouse showed it, what are we doing wrong. Thanks

I Too have a 3300 I could not even begin to get it to take fescue for seed, fought with it through the first couple acres of wheat, but once it shined it it worked like a demon, I even had the sander trying to polish it for fescue, their is not a doubt in my mind it could do it now.

Gary we found out what the problem is, it is the long square spring that puts pressure on the drum that was broke. Now if we can find one to put in it.There is two on each side and the top one was broke and hanging down. Grant you the rust on it did not help, but I think this is the main problem. Talk to you later.

After you "fight" with it for a half-day, or so, and the steel gets polished up by the crop sliding over it, you won't believe how ell it feeds!

Gary The feederhouse drum is about 6 inches from the auger. We adjusted the drum as the book calls for it a 1/8 inch from the bottom. The fingers look as they are working properly. When we started we went about 15 feet and it was working good and then when we stopped and started it would not do anything. All the bars are straight as we straighten them. It is mind boggling. Thanks

Marlin I would try some slip plate on the floor if the floor is rusty.

Is this combine new to you or did it work for you last year?

Gary The farmer used it for wheat 2 years ago and said it worked good. There is not much rust on it at all.

Marlin it doesn't take much to slow down the flow.

I can run a 50 acres thru mine and the next morning the first round will cause problems until it gets shined up again.

And I assume there are no other obstructions in the feeder house. Correct.

Thought of one other thing does the head have a floating cutter bar?

If so you may have to lock it up in the rigid postition.

If I'm right in assuming that the auger carries it to the middle ok and then doesn't travel up the feederhouse here is what I would check.

Are the fingers in the center of the auger retracting at the right time?

They need to retract just as they get the material to the feeder house.

Is the front drum on the feeder house far enough forward? Is the front drum in the lowest setting?

This combine doesn't have some kind of head adapter that puts the auger to far ahead of the feeder chain does it?

Is it to rusty on the floor for the material to slide up? Mine will not feed good till its shined up a little.

List some answers and we will go from there.

Gary

It sounds like the feeder house drum may be set in the "up" position. It should be in the "down" position for wheat.
