Heavy Hearts this morning

Early this morning, one of our Collies passed away. She had been sick the last week, and we took her to the vet twice in 3 days. Yesterday they drew blood and urine, and were to get the results today, but it's too late. She checked her over from head to toe, and tried everything she could think of but to no avail.

Diamond was my mother's dog more than mine, but she was still a part of our family for the last 6 years. We're really gonna miss that old gal.

this isn't like a pet we could pickup and pet him one of our barn cats has been missing for several days i told susie i bet we don't see him anymore we like citters around here cows , cats , dogs

Hi Virgil , we have numerous barn cats also and they leave for weeks at a time on occasion . Mostly the males . Unless you live near heavily travelled roads you will probably see it again . Ours almost alway's show back up . They are skinny as rails but otherwise none the worse . I hope you see it soon . ...Randy

It always hurts to lose a companion even if it doesn't consider you as it's human . My wife and I rescued many dogs over the years and have grown to love them all . We never had children and now we have 17 dogs . Some have disabilities and some have behavior problems but they are all like family to us . I know very well how you must feel and it really never gets any easier to handle . We have one now that's seriously ill and we're trying to nurse him back but it's not looking good . He's a ten year old black and tan coonhound mixed with what we don't know . It's really going to hurt to put him down , he's a good dog . We have a bi-blue collie ( Shelbie ) and many other breeds from poodle to rottweiller . Sorry for your loss ....Randy

Hmmmm. Know the feeling. We had to put down our border collie 3 weeks ago tomorrow. She took a seizure (sp), which could not be controlled. Figured it was best to put her down rather than have her suffer from something that wasn't curable anyway. Probably a brain tumor. She would have been 13 this month. One doesn't realise just how attached you get until they're gone.

I feel for you, i've lost many dogs over my short 21 years, miss them all. I don't know what I'd do if I lost current dog Blue (lab/dalmation mix). You'll allways have the memories to reflect on. It's amazing how attached you get to certain animals. Again, sorry to hear about your lose.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost a 6 year old Gordon Setter (Clementine) a few years ago. It's tough to lose your #A1 huntin' partner, or that great farm dog. They are just so d*mn loyal it breaks your heart.

My heart is with you. I have 6 dogs now and lost several over the past few years. Mine are my family as my wife and I do not have kids. We treat them like kids. I know your pup will be missed. Reflect back on the good things and the bad things she did over the years and smile.

Donovan, that dog was surely as much part of your family as a person. It is too bad that the dog didn't make it. You will miss the companionship and the presence of the dog, it's not easy burying a pet,I've had to do it with tear filled eyes. I always remember my old faithful when I cut the grass where he is buried, I always have good memories about how friendly and faithful he was as a pet..Take care..Mike in Exeter Ontario
