Hi, Harley read with intrest that you bale with a 845 and an m farmall. What i need to know is what happens if you can,t get the trator out of gear as is the case sometimes and you stop completly to tie the bale etc. I run a old square baler with mine and sometimes it isn,t easy to stop and keep it going at the same time. I also bale with a small ac baler (roto baler) everytime it ties just flip it out of second let it tie back in second and go. Other than just a little slow what is the bad thing about running the baler with out live power? I do have two way hydalics. And time is not a factor in baleing hay. Can i make a bale say 800# or so? My old # 30 loader has a time with much heavier bales. Anything else you can tell me would be helpful to me and others out here. Harley thanks for your time. Anyone else care to comment your more than welcome. Delbert

Delbert, I roll up round bales with a M Farmall and the way I pop it out of gear is start the string and resting my hand on the gear shift while pulling on it ,I throttle the motor back and it will come right out without stressing parts.Ralph

I don't have a problem getting mine out of second gear when baling. Once in awhile I miss and have to push the clutch all the way in and take it out of gear, then I have to start the bale turning with the tractor idled down and start it slow to tie it so the shear pin don't break. They aren't hard to replace, just have to get off the tractor and then back on and yadayadayada. You know. I baled over 230 bales this year for me and another guy and I think I had to stop about 4 times and that was usually on an incline. Ya I remember those old AC rotobales. Man I don't miss putting those things up. Talk about a pain in the neck. Dad couldn't always be sure of getting home in time to get the hay in before it might rain in Iowa so we put those little rounds up for about ten years till he quit making hay. Then in the spring ya had all that damned twine to contend with. Yuck, what a mess. Sure like these big rounds. Good luck with your baling and if you have any more questions, get back on here. Harley

Harley, guess it takes an old trucker to know the trick of shifting without the clutch.
