I have a 75 pan thrower on a 320 NH baler and it is giving me some trouble. It appears that the thrower is over extending its reach and is bending the guide arms and most recently has broken the end with the spring off the hydraulic cylinder. I talked with the dealer, but they dont know much about these pans, other than the parts for them are real pricy.

I ordered the parts to fix the rod in the cylinder along with the spring, the collar a new pin, and both guide arms ($528). I just hope I am fixing the problem and not the symptom.

I guess my question is, what stops the kicker from over extending itself and bending the arms and breaking the end off the cylinder?? It doesnt appear that there is anything to stop the kicker except the cylinder itself. Is that all there is?? Maybe the cyinder broke first and then it bent the rods??

These parts are pricy, I just want to make sure I dont tear them up again.

On a JD #30 bale ejector, there is a spring inside
that thrower cylinder its there to cushion the shock of the throw. There are a lot of manuals
on the 30 ejector on Ebay right now.

as I recall there is a spring inside with that hydraulic cylinder, think it is supposed to absorb the shock at the end of the stroke, if yer havin real probs, check with a JD dealer, as I recall they made some of these for New Holland, Bale Kicker they call it I think
