The bale loader part has a cylinder on it to raise the loader, but this cylinder won't raise it all the way and when you let it down there is half of the cylinder left to come out.I hope that I am explaining this right. It looks like the right cylinder and in the picture in the manual that liiks like the way it is but they say to set it where the shoe is 2'' off the ground but looks like you would have to put cylinder stops on the cylinder to stop it at the heighth you want it.I am confused about this can you help me out? Hope you see what I am talking about. Thanks

I thought all the 1030's came with the auto-tie feature. Are you saying it was available as an option? How can you tell if the bale wagon has the auto-tie feature?

I'm not positive, but I don't think the 1030 had the tie feature. If you're buying one, get one with the auto tie, if you can. I've never seen one, but I've been told how they work, there are "pegs" in the floor of the 2nd table, and you activate them and this moves the bales as they are loaded, therby tying them. If you don't make a tie as you load you just don't get a stack that will stand, (laughing as I type this) I've tried it, and it DON'T work.....the stack will just seperate into two parts. I'm gonna be haying again in a week or so and I'll make sure and get some pictures for you guys of the whole process. Don't get me wrong though, I love my stack wagaon, and typing the tiers isn't that big of deal, it would just be so much easier to eliminate getting off the tractor to do it, I keep telling myself I need the exercise anyway....

I think I know what you're talking about, mine is the same way. When you say it won't raise all the way, do you mean that it isn't raising enough to completely lay on the first table---if so...mine is the same way...it will only raise to a straight up position. If you're going to park it in a machine shed, you'll need to tie the bale loader up, otherwise over time it seeps back to the bale loading position. I THINK...the thing is you want to have your drawbar heighth right...16 inches comes to my mind. I know I had to change the one on my D17...then it would be an inch or so off the ground. I don't think its a big deal, it will slide along on the ground when its not level and doesn't seem to hurt a thing. I always use the control to raise it between bales anyway, unless the bales are really close together. The first table will not operate if the bale loader isn't in the down position...its a safey thing so the 1st table can't hit the bale loader. Have you actually used yours yet?? It takes a little getting used to. Like making sure the rolling rack is all the way ahead when you start a load...or having made a tie tier and then going down a hill and having the bales fall forward, or losing track of how many tiers you've got on and finding you're trying to stack #8 on a 7 tier wagon!!! What I do is after making a tie on #6, and it puts it on the load rack, then push the button in, so when it puts #7 on it stays up and holds the load all together. If I knew before I bought mine...what I know now, I'd have tried to buy one with the automatic tying feature, I think they were about a 1000 more at the time, but looking back I'd have done it, but I'm used to mine now and it works good and I really like it. Like I said, I'm no expert, but if you have any more questions, holler....and good luck. One thing I might add...SAFETY...They are great machines, but a guy needs to be careful.

I'm sure you're already aware of this....but let me caution you about one crazy thing, especially if you're testing it, etc. You want to be careful----say the rolling rack is in the loading position....(completely to the front)...you raise the load rack to the unload position.....the rolling rack can-----AND WILL---fall suddenly to the rear of the load rack---and I mean fast....it could be disaster if you happened to be standing there looking things over, and it hit you. Could be disaster---nope, it would be!! This is the same reason why you shouldn't try and move a partial load to the rear....when it starts to move, you can't move your control to the lower position fast enough to overcome the falling of the load. Trust me...I've tried that to, I didn't foul up my stack wagon, but its scary when all the weight hits the back.
