Well here goes. Will try to set up the problem. The last time I used the baler it was running fine then developed a loud banging noise right as I was finishing up.(thank goodness). When I had someone roll the flywheel I noticed that as the plunger was going back it woul drop slightly. The banging came when it was going back to the front when the bearing had to jump back in track. Is there a track you can buy or do I need to go in there and weld a piece of steel in to make a track? Also does the track go all the way the bearing runs? Thanks in advance You guys are great

Which bearing? There are seven bearings on that plunger. I assume you mean the big bearing behind the knife, but please confirm. Yes, most rails are available, but you can make anything if you are handy with a torch and welder. Steve

Thanks Steve It is the one behind the knife. I did weld a piece of steel in there and it works wonderfully. Again thanks a bunch

I agree with Chick. I would also sharpen the knives on the plunger. If they are worn down to the nubbin, everything else starts to go with it..

I doubt you can buy the rail now. If the bearing is bad, it is available. You will have to unbolt the plunger and remove it through the rear of the bale chamber. Also, be sure to check the pillow block bearing on the plunger eccentric arm. The bearing is available for this, but the pillow block is not. You will have to turn the bearing 90 degrees, to remove it from the pillow block, and replace. this pillow block is heavier and better metal than a standard pillow block bearing, and designed to withstand the constant back and forth pressure. A standard pillow block is not designed for this, and will invarible break at the mounting bolts. Good Luck!
