Like many others on the board, the rubber is patchy on my machine, There still appears to be good rubber depth. The spacing shims are out on one side but some still on the other. How much shim material can be removed? There seems to be a larger composite spacer there as well. Has anyone removed this to allow more adjustment for crimping?

Info for other cost questions - New rollers in Ontario range from $300 ea for used...$ 924 to $1500 each - new..not hard to see which dealer needs a holiday

Owners manual says there should be the same number of shims on one side as the other. There are two shim thicknesses available (.060 and .015). Also, it stataes that "there should always be at least .015" clearance between the outer diameter and root diameter of the respective roll lugs". In the roll timing section:" make sure the rolls do not touch each other or bottom out". Removing the big spacer may not be an option. I am probably not supposed to post this here but I have a 489 for sale with excellent rollers for a little bit more that the price of new rollers. Hope this helps

Eddy,

Where in TN are you located. I am interested in the Haybine you have. I am not sure yet if I want to go with a 9ft but am definitely in the market. My farm is in Limestone.
