New Holland 489 Conditioning Rollers

I'm currently look at a neighboors New Holland 489. Overall the machine is in real good shape, needs the normal things like a new sickle and a set of guard to go along with it. The conditioning rollers have seen there better days for sure. I'm wondering how much it would cost me to replace both conditioning rollers. Thanks

You would be looking at over 1000 per roller. My dealer sold one this spring, which was around 1300 Cad, but I think that included quite a bit of freight..... so, depending on where you're at, you would be looking at at least a grand. Time to find another mower I think..... For 3 grand you could find a pretty decent Haybine I think. I found a lot in the 3-4 range (asking price, on dealers lot) in the past week. Late in the season, they're pretty negociable at this point. I bought a discbine for 6800, where the asking price had been 9500..... You need rollers, probably some bearings and related stuff around the rollers, and a cutterbar? You're awful handy 3 grand. New mower would be in the same range. For what it's worth...

If you have a dealer install them, you will need at least $2000 to $2500. Is the machine worth it? Steve

I'm just wanting to know the cost of the rollers roughly. I have the time, facility, and the extra hands to handle the majority of our mechanical repairs.

Well from what I have heard/checked one you better hold on to your back pocket becuase they aren't cheap, say around $500-2000 for a pair of them. Thats why the ones on my 460 are still being used. One end on my machine has part of the top roller missing and I was told a new one was $1000 so I said to heck with it I'll just keep useing it the way it is and its been doing ok for the last 7 years or so
