Yesterday after work I pull up the weather page. Take a look and decide if I am going to cut the rest of my hay. Partly cloudy w/ 10 pecent chance of rain all through the weekend. Yipe I say and run up and cut her all down with the plan of baling on Sat.
Now this morning I look and they changed it to 40% chance of thunderstorms on Sat.
If it rains on this last bit of hay I might just blow a gasket.

I wish you all could send your rain our way. I live north of Tulsa, Ok. We haven't had enough rain in the last month to do any good. The bermuda grass has already gone dormant from lack of moisture in the yard. The pastures are brown and dried up. To the north and south 50 miles they have had rain but apparently we are not living right.

I was lucky enough to get my winter hay put up about 3 weeks ago and of course didn't have to worry about rain. I am going to bale more hay this weekend because I am afraid I will need it to supplement the cattle in the next few months.

Send your rain our way we will gladly take it.

I will just consider myself blessed as we were able to get just under 4500 small square bales up without rain starting the first week of June till last Saturday afternoon. Can't say we did not sweat a few times, but A M E N first is all done! We are located in west-central MI too . . .

Welcome to the wet hay club. Cutting hay is one step better than doing a rain dance. Two weeks ago I checked the forecast and it was four dry days to be...so I cut everything the New Holland could stand. Get up the next morning...read the paper...and there it is...50% chance of rain. And rain it did.

Maybe you should quit sending all that Minnesota rain over here...at least for a week maybe.

I've noticed similiar stuff where the "%" chance of rain is ping-ponging all over the place.

I really suspect a lot of the forecast information is being fed out straight from the 'puters to the web -- you don't have a person whose monitoring it directly, or providing close quality control.

Used to be you had a person make the forecast for my County...

Now you click, and the national weather service web site produces a customized town-by-town forecast...but I think that means you're more at the mercy of the formulas the computers use, and while good, they're not perfect yet!

I thought it was just me. Can't get a straight answer out of the weatherman anymore and predicting this midwest weather seems to get harder and harder. Clear all around in the morning and solid clouds and rain in the afternoon. Good luck, I hope you make it.

Sounds like you have the same luck I have, Ive cut 4 times this year and have gotten rained on 3, (five time if you count it raining on the same field more than once) Watch the weatherman, can't trust him anymore...guess the cows might eat that old brown hay.
