I have been wanting to get a discbine, but did not have the HP to run the 1411. Now that they have the 1409 and 1410, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I have a 706 Farmall and was wondering how it would handle them. I have mostly bottom ground in SE Ohio. I would also be interested in information on other discbine makes.

Thanks for the info.

I HAVE A NH 1410 THAT WAS NEW LAST YEAR.I JUST FINISHED PUTTING DOWN 5 ACRES OF FIRST CUTTING. I HAVE BEEN USING A 5640 WHICH IS 62 HP WHICH DOES A FINE JOB. TODAY I USED THE 4630 WHICH IS 52 HP AND THAT WORKED GOOD ALSO. WHEN I GOT IT THEY SAID I NEEDED 60 HP BUT I THINK A 45 HP TRACTOR WOULD RUN IT OK.

I have an oliver 1655 (70hp) and borrowed a neighbors kuhn fc300. I think its 9'6". It pulled it ok, but in tough hay I think it would work it pretty hard. I think a new discbine is $15k or better, maybe a used discbine and used 100+hp tractor would make sense.

I don't have a 100 hp tractor, or really the use for one.

What hp is your 706? I have a 1411 that I am pulling with a 8000 (105 pto hp). I think if you kept the blades sharp and slowed your ground speed you could pull a 1411. Minimum hp requirements on the 1411 are 80. The thickness of the hay doesn't seem to make any difference in the way it pulls the tractor.
