was talking about. Thanks fellas for the comments so far.

Here is a pic of the mower in question. As you can see pitman was thin metal from factory as best as I can tell. Mower is belt driven (weakest link?) and travel position is pivot directly behind tractor vs. 90 degree vertical.

Suspect mower is German built as most stickers are German language or something this dumb Svede can not figure out.

Other pics in parts and peices search for German.
Your wisdom and comments are welcome so I can get this bad boy into service.

I think I would try to fab. one out of wood. You could bolt a piece of flat metal stock on the ends for the mounting points. If you do use metal... maybe aluminum would be a good choice since its soft, but it could wear out of bend easy too. I've never seen a mower like that before???

Never seen one like that, maybe a piece of thin wall square metal tubeing is the way to go. I know from the pictures the tube thats there looks like it is from the factory, or the whole thing has been painted before/after the metal was added

You recon that piece could be some type of real weak metal like a pot metal or such? Is it supposed to be soft so it will break first?

It wouldn't be pot metal becuase pot metal is brittle, but it could be a thin wall tube that yes is a weak link but instead of wood it was a thin wall steel tube. I'd love to here just how thich the steel is on that tube

Old, in parts and pieces photo it looks to be two 3/8x11/2 flat stock sandwiched together with a narrow piece.

If you notice there is a belt jack shaft off of the pto so that is the slip point.

It could be built real heavy and not hurt anything.

Just my opinion.gary

He jsut sent me an e-mail about it, He says its 2 pieces of metal 1/8 thick spaced apart by 1/2 inch so yes the belt and the fact that the bars are spaced would work as a weak link and as I said might even have been that way new. I think we will never know for sure unless some on else has one just like it and has the manual. This is one of the reasons the forums work people can talk about things and maybe just maybe some one will know the answer or at least get close LOL

I didn't look close enough. I couldn't from the picture it was a sandwiched piece. Of course, I'm not a mower expert at all. Just trying to learn a few things. I plan on getting some cows hopefully in the not too distant future and trying to learn all I can.

Well isn't that half of the reason to hang out on the forums. One is to learn and the other half is to tell/let others know what you have learned.
