I have an old WinPower PTO 10KW AC generator that only puts out about 70 volts. Increasing RPM above the normal 540 helps some but I can't get enough RPMs to get much above 80 volts. I hooked up an oscilliscope and the wave form looks good to that would eliminate bad windings as a cause of the low voltage. Anyone have any ideas?

I had an old "ugly duckling" gas powered Lincoln welder that had the same problem. Come to find out that if the thing sits for a good while unused, the field magnets get weak. Can have them re-magnetized pretty reasonable. Had me scratching my head for a while.
