I bought the 402 rake last night, and pulled it home. I need to replace about 20 teeth that are missing or bent, but I found that they're only about $1.50 each. I found a manual for the rake at the local tractor salvage yard for $10, so I should be ready to go. The drive belt looks good, and the bearings seem to be OK too. Our MF36 mower/conditioner has approx. 12' table, but the conditioner rollers are approx. 4'. The rollers are rubber, so I don't know how much crimp they really put in the hay. My problem has been that the hay will build up on one of the drapers, then a big pile will feed at one time into the conditioner, either clogging it up or leaving a 3' high spot in the windrow. In the areas of the field where I have more clover, the grass & alfalfa are lower so the windrows are thinner. Even so, when I flip the row over after 2 or 3 dry days the clover will be wet and starting to rot. Speed of mowering doesn't matter, since I don't have much to mow. If it takes me 4 or 6 hours to mow with the sickle what used to take 2 hours on the moco, it doesn't matter. probably better, since I get to spend more time on the tractor. Any suggestions on how to rake the swath from the sickle mower into windrows?
