Used a 504f for many years but the belts were getting tired and didnt want to put the money into it so bought a 505i. Wow Im very pleased with it,newer tech. is a great thing. Dont get me wrong its not the same as a new M model but it will go threw some hay. Seams to run so much smoother than the F. It has soft start on it and starts a bale every time.

Vermeer I, J, K, L, XL & current Rebel round balers have the same basis of forming a bale. This design is known as the direct feed concept. This means that there is no throat in the baler. The hay is fed directly into the bale from the pick-up.

I had the same experience you did when going from an F to an I baler. In the past 3 years, I think I have to abort one bale.
