Well I have baled 11 bales today and the problem I had is now slowly comeing back and the hatch is opening again. Now heres the question. I wanted to rebuild both cylinders but the dealer only had one kit on hand. What is the likely hood that the cylinder I didn't rebuilt is the problem or is it that I messed up rebuilding the cylinder?? I'm guessing its probably the cylinder I didn't rebuild but not sure. What do you guys think??
Thanks

Hey Old,

I just don't think it is anything you did wrong, especially since you've had the gate open at least 11 times today.

I just finished rebuilding a cylinder myself this morning. They either work or they don't work. They leak or they don't leak.

Have you tried a different tractor on this baler? Maybe your tractor is bleedin' across?

Dunno, hope you get that dude figured out. Gotta be frustrating.

Allan

Nope haven't tried another tractor since I only have one big enough to pull that old 850NH. I have switched hoses form top to bottom and I'm thinking about giveing the other side of the hyds a try. It has 2 remotes and I always use the one on the right side but have been thinking maybe I should give the left side a try. I'm still guessing its the cylinder I didn't rebuild since things always seem to wear as a unit and not just one or the other goes bad but both do. Oh well I only have 1 maybe 2 more bales to do tonight and think I'll switch sides before I do just to see if its the valve

In my experience, the problem you describe is a leaking cylinder. Once I took the hydrolic locking valve apart, just springs and plungers, it didn"t make any difference. Can you hear it click when you apply the hydraulics? Thats what holds the door shut, not the tractor. I have finished a field by bumping the lever to keep the door shut. AsI recall there are maybe 3 different NH kits for the cylinders. One time I bought the alum. pieces that the o-rings went on. This was several years ago.If possible find a parts baler cheap. Thats what I did. Good luck. David
