I just bought used Kuhn FC202. It is a threepoint hitch mounted disk mower (6' 7") with an impeller conditioner. Works well. The negatives are of course hooking it up and corners (at least for me, it swings backwards when you make a tight corner much like a sickle bar would). It weighs about 1500 pounds and may be a bit much for the case 595 (53 hp, 4wd cab) in first cut hay; next round of cutting (if it ever stops raining) I may use the Ford 7610 (the Ford has quick links but lacks a cab)

All said it is great compared to the NH haybine I used last year; I can cut in heavy dew, everything goes through the conditioner (including a turkey) and so far (20 acres) no jams. The price was right ($3K) and a new set of blades costs less than $13 (8@ $1.59).

If only I had enough tractors to leave it on all season.

Yes, I believe there are several manufactures that build them. I had one (actually 2) from PZ. It was a Falzet 230, which was about a 7' cut. May it rest in peace, or at least give me peace now that it's resting.
3 point mo-co's are heavy, and awkward to work with. Personally, I wouldn't bother with a mounted mower again. It's so much easier to hitch and work with a trailed model.

Setting here looking at sum Krone 3pt disc mower literature, they have a Krone 3pt disc mower conditioner. It doesnt have the rollers, just the impellers setting directly above the cutter. Its all 3pt, surprised the heck outta me when i seen it. I dont think i would want that heavy beast on my 3pt.Recommends an 80 HP tractor, so that should tell ya what kinda of beast it is. Just in case sumone wants to check it out, its models AM203 CV, AM 243 CV and AM 283 CV. Should be on Krones Website.

I get the impression that a lot of farmers over there are scared to death of putting anything bigger than a 2 bottom plow on the 3 point! I used my Lely on an MF 168, it did not even need any front weights (actually much to my surprise) ! I often see people on this board quiver when they see a 3 bottom one way (reversible) plow. I saw one guy ask if he thought it was safe to put a 100 gallon mounted sprayer on his 3 point linkage.

Most disk mower conditioners sold in the US are most likely 12' or bigger center pivot machines that wouldn't be practical to be 3pt mounted. Most of our hay ground is really hilly and we run a regular 9' mounted disk mower on a 140 hp tractor and I wouldn't want it on anything much smaller. In most areas of the US alot of the farm equipment is just too big to use on the 3pt.

A lot are, you"re right on that. I believe it just the mindset. Plus there are lot of newbies that are scared, such as my neighbor, who has a 45 hp kubota and 5 ft bush hog and will not go faster then 1st gear low range.

I have a krone 3pt disc mower, no flails though and use it on a MF 265, it plays with it, but all of my hay ground is gentley sloping and on one field i cant leave the field in transport position, goin up the hill it will raise the front wheels off the ground. Course i have done things with the frontend loader and put things on the 3pt that i shouldnt have.

Perhaps specialty model for the Ford bi-directional tractors, but not a typical moco sticking off to the side with rollers - that would be a heavy beast!

If you mean a disc mower with crimping rollers, that I cannot say,I know here in UK they do not exist. If you mean a disc mower with an impeller type conditioner, ( i.e a rotor with plastic or metal fingers, that throws the cut material against a baffle plate) yes yes yes! I used to run a Lely 2.4 m (7 foot 10 inch ) machine, it was excellent.Quite a few manufacturers make such machines including Kuhn,Claas,Lely, probably others. I think 3m is about the largest you can get for a fully mounted machine.

I looked at a used mounted disc mower conditionor last year. It was a PZ with metal conditioning drums. On an international 584 it will tip the machine with unloaded tires I'm told. We had a mfwd/
cabbed/loader/loaded tires 584 at the time and the dealer wouldn't sell it to us, he was worried we roll the tractor and sue him.

Put new rollers and knives in the old NH489 and it was cutting at 6.3 mph this year no problems except I couldn't go faster as I was over running the reel.

Ken, would you describe to me how those conditioning drums function? Do they squeeze the hay like the rolls on my old swather or something else? I'd like a description on the flail conditioners too if someone would. Thanks.
