Using 3pt brush Hog/ Draw bar tractor.

Dang it I need to do some brush hogging and my 400 is up at the land. What to do oh what to do.

How about I weld up a set of brackets so I can hard mount my mower to my 706.

Brackets work pretty good. Not going to win any invention contest or any thing but the mowing is getting done.

Kelly, your system is very similar to the optional hitch required to mount a John Deere #5 sickle bar hay mower on an H or M Farmall. Never had any problems with it.

Kelly,

Can't tell in your pictures if you're connected to the third member location----- -

if not...

Be careful that you don't "scuttle" your pto shaft, in case the drawbar rises 'too high'.....

(been there, done that....!! )

A length of chain, cable, come-a-long, just about anything that will support the weight of the bush-hog will work, so long as it holds the implement from pivoting too far.

ie.. the tractor dropping & the implement rising in relation to the shaft & drawbar, as in crossing a washout, ditch, hump, etc.... or the simple act of forgetting 'which "rig"' your on, & pulling the lever to raise it, out of habit..... ....

Was "assuming" your draw bar is "liftable" or "floats" with the implement & not stationary.....

Draw bar is stationary so its not going any where.
I backed it into a couple of ditches to see if the pto would touch the draw bar and I got clearence.
The only bad thing I noticed today was when you start the pto. With a 3pt you have some side to side movement possable. This obsorbs some of the shock when the cutters swing out.
With this hard mount that not possable. She gives a good thunk as she starts up. Broke a shear bolt the 1st time. After that I got the hang of it letting the pto start real slow and at real slow rpm.
Cutting she worked just great. Got er all done and unmouted. Pretty easy to attach a unattach at least compared to sycle mower I have used. I can move the mower with a 2x4 un like the sycle I have to move the tractor to get lined up just right.
