I purchased a used Ford I80I disc harrow and find that it has two different diameters blades. The front gang are 22" and the rear are 20". Why? Is this someone's mistake? I am replacing bearings and probably the 22" blades.

When I replace mine I buy new ones for the front and move the good fronts back to the rear. Cost my about a thousand dollars last time for brand new 22 inch front blades.

The front ones have probably been replaced and the back one not. A common thing.

Front disc blades wear down about 20 to 30% faster than the rear blades as they are the ones doing the primary cut and the rear blades are working loose dirt . It is common practice to ,and a lot of work ,move the front blades to the back and the back ones to the front . I'd use it as is. Someone has done the hard work for you.
