NH 467 Sickle Bar

I recently replaced the sickle bar bushing on a New Holland 467 haybine. Does the bolt that comes with the bushing kit go straight though the bushing and wobble without any washers? Or should a washer be installed underneath the head of the bolt and/or under the nut at the wobble? I also noticed that the nut in the kit was an all metal lock nut...am I correct to assume that just "snug" on the nut is the correct torque to allow free motion of the wobble and sickle bar during operation?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks boys!

Billy

Hi Billy,

Should be a flat washer on each end of that bushing's center "tube".

Gotta be locked down tight, torqued to something like 80 ft lbs while the sickel is in the center of the register. The "motion" comes from the rubber bushing giving and taking.

Thanks for squaring me away Allan! I will install it as such! If the rain holds off, I'll put it on the M this weekend and see how things go! Have a good weekend! Thanks again!

You asked a question I would like to know the answer to also. I have a 469 NH that I have always used a couple washers and then tighten it down pretty good but sure would like to know how it really should be done. Maybe if I find out I might not replace an many of the bushings

OLD,

Don't get your hopes up. I used a 469 for years ahd had to teplace one or two bushings a year. Keep a spare blade on hand.
