NH bale thrower problems

I recently bought a NH 282 with 62 bale thrower. I have baled about 150 bales with it, but only about 70 made it to the wagon. It ties perfect, but the thrower burns the strings off. I am using 7200 plastic twine, and going fairly fast. The thrower is running fast, and the belts are pretty chewed up. I am making short (28"?) bales, but they are fairly tight and wiegh about 50 pounds. Any ideas? I really want to use this baler, but have to get the thrower figured out. Would sisal twine be better? Make the bales even shorter?
Josh

Josh, Plastic twine is worse, but you can get away with it if everything on the thrower is right. Bigger windrows will help, but at some point you will probably have to break down and replace those expensive wide flat belts. When they are no longer in good shape, the bales just sit up against the belts and have to be forced through. New belts are aggressive. One other thing: Make sure you have good spring tension pushing the top thrower table assembly down. That may help a little. Steve

Just how expensive ARE those belts? Mine are looking a little long in the tooth on my Model 50...

I've been told by a number of farmers that you can't run plastic in a belt thrower baler, that it would burn the twine off, never believed them but maybe they're right, I would switch to sisal twine.

Make the windrows heavier, or increase ground speed. Bale is sitting in the front of the thrower too long, waiting for more hay to come in. Run the thrower only fast enough to get the bales into the wagon.

I am running about as fast as the baler can take the hay, and because its a good sized baler it feeds the thrower pretty quickly. It does really throw the bales into the wagon though, but to fill the wagon its either got to throw them hard, or I stop near the end and do some hand stacking.

i would check all your roller bearings and make sure they are tight, second, replace your v-belts, this is probably your problem. if they slip just a little they will not grab the bale. this thrower will handle plastic
