Hello all,

I have recently found a post from 5/01 discussing the continental-belton posthole digger. I have recently purchased one, and was hoping someone would have a manual ofwhich I could get a copy.

Could someone also give some advice. The digger I have it the automatic kind with the cable to return the auger to the starting position. It seems to work, but the auger is unbalanced. This has resulted in the auger violently hitting the support legs. Does anyone know how to balance an auger, or should a new one be purchased. If a new one should be purchase will any auger with a 2" inner diameter work? (There doen't seem to be a sheer pin on the auger I have.)

Your auger shouldn't be turning in the up position, until after the catch catches...there should be a clutch that unhooks the auger drive while it's pulling back up. And you don't want to drive around with the PTO engaged...

That aside, if I remember right, any auger should fit, and the shear bolt should be on the driveshaft, not the auger.

So I definitely have a problem then. The digger is rotating after it returns to the locking mechanism. Is there some kind of cluch that should hold the gear the drives the auger up after it returns to the locking mechanism? What stops that gear from engaging?
