I've got a 1942 H Farmall and a set of cultivators to go with it but they are currently not mounted on it. My question is how narrow of a row could the cultivators be set? I've been planting on 36" rows and cultivating 1 row at a time with a B Allis Chalmers but I would like to go to 30" or even 28" rows. So any info would be a great help.

I think acording to some old operators manuals I have (don't have time now to find them) that there are some models that will set to 30" but there are other models that will only go to 36". Are yours the model that hooks to the steering to guide the units or the ones that no not? Will help determine what model you have.

Marcus,

If you haven't already done so, you might post over on the IH/Farmall Discussion Board...you should get some good answers there.

Marcus,

I have a reprint of an old Farmall H, M & MD brochure. Regarding cultivators, it says, "There are 2 and 4-row forward-mounted cultivators for the three big Farmalls. They work at high speeds in all crops planted in 28 to 48-inch rows."

For what it's worth, it looks as though you can move the gangs in to a 30" row setting. Also, for what it's worth, I've told you more than I know...LOL!

I have no idea how to set it up, however.

Good luck,

Stan
