I was baleing and sheered a pin. The stops had came up and stoped the ram. I pulled the needles back and started baleing. The left side would not tie If I moved the twine to the bottom eye of the needle it would miss about every 3rd bale. How do I set the time?

Trip the knotter and crank it through by hand so you can watch the needles as they rise up through the knotter frame. You may have bent a needle. Check to see if the needle frame brake is placing a drag on the needle carriage. Lastly check the plunger head slots and insure there is not an accumulation of chaff.

If you did not break a chain and the chain was not so loose that it would skip a tooth, you are not outta time.

A baler operation manual will give you measurements and references/landmarks to measure from to adjust time. If you have a zillion bales on it, it may pay to advance 1 tooth on the little chain to compensate for wear. Before embarking on this I would pay a JD tech to go over the machine.

Check the tucker finger springs, if they break it will give intermittent tieing.
