Last Friday our local club went out and got our wheat binding done for the year. The wheat was really short due to drought stress and was taking on a second growth. The shortness made it rather difficult to get the wheat to go through the binder as it should, and the second growth forced us to put into shocks instead of cheating and putting it directly on the bundle racks. We had several members as well as FFA boys helping which made the job somewhat easier. Was a real learning experience for all. Here is a link to all the pics.

That brings back the memories, like the time I picked up a bundle of oats and found a Black Widow spider under my hand. What make binder is that?

The binder is an IH McCormick. It is a rather late model as it has the rubber wheels and the IH logo on it. Didn't find any black widows, but did find a rather large bull snake that made it's way through the binder. The boys had fun with that!
