Does anyone know what the bale per hour amount is on a J.D. 224 wire square baler? Thanks

According to Deere service school engineers of the 60s&70s, the 224 baler was designed to run at 60 strokes a minute at 540 PTO RPM.And it was designed to make 11 to 13 charges or strokes(count em -thats how you can tell if you are feeding the baler right) per bale for a theorhetical average of 300 bales per hour. But you can cram more hay through a 224 wire baler than that. Also depends on the windrow size & bale density or weight of the bale.Twine 224--not likely unless trhe knotters are in excellent shape and the twine is very strong.

The 336 that came out in 1972 that replaced the 24& 224 models was speeded up to 80 strokes per minute to increase its capacity over the older models.I bought the first 336 sold in this state and still use it occasionally when I want to punish myself.lol, bob
