I set mine where it contacts the ground surface lighty, any higher and I dont get a good raking action (wheel spin). This rake does not do well in a turn greater than 45*. It will just drag the hay along. With only 4 wheels it can be tricky to find the right spot to drive if your trying to just flip over a windrow, otherwise it does a good job.

I have found replacement teeth at the NH dealer. They are the same as the rakes they sell. They carry long and short ones so take one along if you need replacements.

When not in use I now set mine on a pair of barrels supporting the two sections with the 3 point hitch on blocks. This keeps the weight off the teeth during storage. (The only time any of the teeth ever broke on mine was sitting all winter unsupported)

However, I think to set it to tedder, pull the pins on the 2 sections and flip them over. I do this with the rake lifted as high as my three point will pick it up then roll the wheels around. If you need more lift, the chains on the front can be adjusted to do this. When done, you will have put the rake wheels into a "V" shape instead of in the angular line for raking.

You will also have to adjust the angle of the main bar that the two wheel sections are attached to. This is done with the t-bolt located at the end of the bar the three point hitch is hooked to. It is slotted, but has squares to hold the head of the bolt. (Can be a pain in the @$$ to loosen it just enough to slide things but not so much that it won"t stay put while you get things tightend back up)Tweak the bar angle until you get sufficient wheel roation. To flat and the wheels will drag the hay instead of flipping it.

Try experimenting with yours in the yard, you don"t need hay to get the idea what the spinning wheels will do. I think you"ll figure it out once you drag it around some.
