looking for the guides the the teeth ride along that bolt up to the reel frame. I believe they are a 3/4" rod bent to guide the teeth.

thanks

I wish I could find a side rake at all! more over one with rubber tires for $35. What a deal!

I was surprised to look at the tag on a rake at a farm auction on June 3 and it said Model LR2. I had never seen that model number. It looked identical to the 858A we have, gear box and all. The number following the "LR2" was a serial number.

What is an LR 2 rake? If the rods you are looking for are anything like the "rods" on my 894A rake, they are available from John Deere but very pricey. The Parts Catalog calls them "strippers".

Here she is. Got her for a case of beer. Had to put 39 teeth on it and grease it and she runs like a champ. My neighbor is the one who bought one on friday and is missing the the "strippers".

J D wants $110 each. $660 is worth more than the whole rake. I am trying.

Around here we call that one an 851 which was built prior to the 640 rake, say around 1957. It is a contempory of the JD 350pto rake and followed the classic JD 594 series rakes.

Never heard of an LR2 rake until I bought one today for $35. Just needs some grease and its ready to go.

I looked in my Deere Service Publications catalog and noticed they list a Landscape Rake. Maybe "LR" stands for Landscape Rake.

My rake is the same one in the picture the other guy posted. It says LR2 but there is another number next to it that I can't remember what it said but 851 rings a bell.

Pics on JD forum and implement photos to help ID 850 series rakes. 850 series had cast star reel wheels and 890 series (894) had round disc reel wheels.

It's not a LR rake. No such thing ever listed in JD manual catalogs. It's a 851 or 858 , 850 series rake. PC234 parts catalog shows them. LBR***** or LRB***** is just the serial number on tag and not model number. Use to have a 851 and still got some 850 series manuals for it. I may have some old reel strippers in the junk pile but they would cost to ship and still bent and worn. 851 rake was made in 1952 till ?? and 858 rake made in 1955 till ?? G6628E reel stripper fits 851 rakes #s up to 32134, 10 used per rake but not used on 858. G6803E reel stripper fits 851 rakes # 32135 and up and 858 rakes #s up to 88950, 12 used per rake. E16051E reel stripper fits only 858 rakes #s 88951 and up, 12 used per rake. There was also a 858A rake with yellow frame channels but it used mostly same parts as 858. All 3 are shown in PC234 parts catalog.
