Thanks Merrill, Jr. and Tim Shaw. Got that sweet little mower on behind the M with the three point and I've never run anything so "touch-control" oriented before. Just move the control on the flattop fenders a wee bit and it moves. What a sweet outfit. And I cut a piece of wire and took out a section and (this is the main reason I got this over the Gehl 1090 Haybine ) 5 minutes and I was on my way. No laying on the ground under the thing in the grass with the ticks and chiggers. I just plain love it. Thanks again, Harley

I picked up mine from a used equip. dealer a few years ago. It was one of three "County" owned machines that had done more sitting than cutting. It still had the yellow paint on the teeth & guards! I wasn't looking for any particular brand or model, just good working condition. When I saw how the NH 451 operated & their solid reputation in the hay business, I wanted it. Its got to be the smoothest, easiest operating sickle out there!? You don't even need a big tractor to operate it, works great behind my JD 40, or 1010. You can go to NH's website & order the operators manual for it, thats what I did. Good luck with the hay crop!

We had a 451 NH mower years ago. Man it was something else we loved it. It could mow rings around anything else at the time.off the subject a little bit. You said you had a Gehl 1090. I just bought a 1070. what I want to know is how you liked it? I used mine the other day and I will admit that this was the first time I ever used a haybine. It left the field in a mess. Would mow good one directio but not the other. Any help will be appreciated.

As far as mowing the haybine worked real good. It made it so down here in the Ozarks with grass hay, I could cut one day and bale the next. The only problem I had was getting in under the reel, with no backswing, to chisel off the old rivets when I lost a section. I finally took a two foot rod and welded a center punch to the end of it and snaked it down through the reel to drive out the old rivet stubs. Just got tired of laying on the ground among the bugs doing maintenance on the thing. It did and still does cut real good as far as that goes. 9' cut and everything. Harley

I used to have a 1091 and now have a new holland. Both have bolted sections. I'm young and nimble, but can replace a section in less than a minute, and probably do it in 30 seconds if i hustled. Josh

Where abouts are you in the Ozarks? My sister and brother in law moved to Cassville nearly a year ago. We were down there over Memorial weekend. Beautiful country down there.
