Howdy folks, I just got home with a New Holland 451 7' sickle bar mower. My question is what is the foldable arch with the top link hole in it for and what does this fasten to on my three point? It looks like it has a fold over handle on each side and slots all up and down the tube that this thing fits over. I know this is vague as heck, but somebody thats got one knows what I'm talking about. Thanks a bunch in advance, Harley

My suggestion is to get an operators book 1st. Its the small things to adjust on that mower, like to have it 16 1/2 inches off the ground and to adjust the break away according to the terrain on the land. I run two, my uncle runs several and each time we change tractors, it requires adjustments for each sickle. You cant find a better sickle, cause they don't make one. Just my two cents.

Merrill is right, the arch thing attaches right where the 3rd link pins in. Make sure and grease the two zerks on the bottom pivot link every 2 hours (the one that attaches to the drive plates and the crankshaft). You can let the 4 zerks on the top two pivot links go a little longer. I grease those every 4 hours.

On my tractor I remove the toplink, hook the arch piece you are refering to directly to the tractor, then hook my toplink from the arch piece the rest of the mower. The notches are to level the mower up for different size or length tractor hitches. Its hard to explain doing from my head but you will see what i'm talking about when you try it. When you raise & lower the three point, the mower bar actually raises up & down. I think it's a really cool design & will love it once you use it.

Okay, thanks a lot. Going out right now to see what can do. Just greased it and there were SIXTEEN grease zerks on that little thing. It hadn't ought to ever wear out. Harley
