There is an older PT10 which has an 8 ft cut. The cutter bar does not float over rough ground.
The later PT10 floats ok and has a 9 ft cut. It is a much better machine and will cut tall thick hay that a NH Haybine will barely handle. All Hesston equipment that I have used is well made and uses thick sheet metal.

Ours was the Case numbered version and did good work only thing was we sold it 25 year ago when we quit making hay when the dairy heard left, pulled it with a 27HP Farmal H with no problems in good heavy hay. Tried out a Gehl that was a newer design and it did not do half as good as the Heston built Case

up until 3 yrs ago,(my son met a car on a narrow bridge and demolished it) i used a pt-10 and found it to be a very reliable machine. We used it in waterways and alfalfa.

I 'borrowed' one last year and then ended up buying it at auction when the owner had to sell everything. Paid 150. It is probably not the best machine in the world, but it is getting me by. And for $150 I couldn't beat the price...

The ones I saw online were $300 to 750, I had offered the guy $500 he turned me down. Oh well hind sight is 20/20....

How come you need one now? I done without one for years. I haven't heard a lot of bad things about those although they are getting up there in the years department. Saw one like you describe sell for $1000.....but that was 5 years back.
