How much is mowing worth? Just heard that Menard's bot 55 acres for new store but won't build till fall.City is bugging them to get it mowed or else they will mow it and send BIG bill. Have 1850 and 14' rotary cutter. Was thinking $9 or $10 per acre. Is that steep or too cheap? They want it mowed once a month. Thanks, Chris

I am at 35$an acre With a 7.5ft and 15ft and have about 300 acres to do and hopefully more coming.Some of the competition is at 45 an acre.They have new tractors and mowers but my stuff is paid for and I am probably netting more $ steve

Super 99,Last year I charged $12 per acre with my haybine and with diesel fuel the price it is now I am seriously considering $15. I don't do much custom work but as has been pointed out , break something and there goes your profit, you drove the tractor all day for nothing. I did 18 acres for a friend and figured on $216 to pay for my time and fuel, took a bearing out and broke two guards. Bearing was $88 and the guards were$13 each, that left $102 for my time and my fuel, wear and tear on the equipment. From the time I left home and back I was about 6 hours so thats $17 an hour for Man, Tractor and Haybine without fuel considered..you see where this is going?...Unless you have new equipment and are in the custom business there are a lot of risks..I'll do it for my friend but if anyone else asks I think No is the best answer, especially when I am running older Haybine..come to think about it..I'm older, so's my tractor..all three of us is OLD! DARN IT

I charge $55.oo per hour for my JD and batwing...and people dont seem to mind. you just have to remember if you tear something up bush hog tractor ect. its not cheap to fix.

There is a guy by us who charges 50$ a hour for a 5 foot bush hog on a little 22 horse kubota and he told me last year that he is booked up every weekend througout the summer.
