Gearbox ratio information

Does anyone have or know where I might find something on the web or in print showing the gearbox ratios on shredders, etc? I have seen a catalog type publication somewhere that showed many common types of gearboxes readily available on rotary mowers along with there ratios, and a picture of each and I would like to get my hands on something like that again. Anyone know where I might find this info?

Look for Hub City- Safeguard Power Transmission Company in Aberdeen, SD. 605-225--360. They build a wide variety of gearboxes, including those on older Case, Owatonna, JD skidloaders, etc. Likely make some for shredders, etc.

Thanks for the info. I have a Rhino CY60 that is a great mower but the gearbox turns the blades so slow. It is made to cut rough stuff. I am looking for a drag type mower and I want to put a high speed gearbox on it to make it cut grass pretty. I was given a gearbox/driveshaft/slip clutch assembly that is in good shape off an old Mohawk shredder. The gearbox is a real round shape and says "Warner Auburn Ind." on the back and it has the number 611 stamped on the side of it. It appears to be a 1.5:1 ratio. That is no doubt fast than my Rhino but I want to find some printed info on what gearboxes were offered with even a higher ratio than that so I know what to keep my eyes open for. Are you familar with this type Warner gearbox?

Not familiar with Warner. Dodge is also another box mfgr. Hub City catalog is over 225 pages of models they make. If you're going to modify a cutter- consider adding extra blades at 90 degrees rather than doubling the speed.

By modifying I will simply try to locate a factory built gearbox that has a higher speed than most. My neighbor has a cheap made 6' 3-point mower that has a very high speed gearbox. My idea is to take a gearbox like his and mount it to a well built drag type mower with a hydraulic cylinder to control the height. With this setup I will be able to keep high ground speed and still cut the grass good due to a high blade speed and also keep the mower at the height I want on the fly to keep a good manicured look.
