I started cutting yesterday but I couldn't finish because the rain made it difficult for the hay to go through the machine. Today I was having troubles with my 1600 (think its moisture in the Dist. cap now) so I put the 285 on, then was having troubles with the machine plugging up. I did a few errands, looked at the machine and decided to loosen the crimper rollers a little and Voila!! Now it goes through just fine. Not sure why they were so tight in the 1st place, but that sure explains some of the troubles we've been having... Our haybine is a New Idea 290 / Ford 535 hybrid, same machine different colors. First the reel caught up with the knock-down bar which I am still puzzled how, then from there more and more blue started going on. Now it's got a blue PTO shaft & gear box, wheel hub, idler pulley, jack shafts, and sheild on the outside. It's quite a colorfull machine if I do say so myself. Donovan from Wisconsin
