Hey all,
I have a 461 that keeps eating the bushing in the sickle bar. Have put about 4 or 5 in the last 3 years doing a whole woppin 5 acres a year. Last year we did a 8 acre field and went through 2 bushings in that field alone. I have greased/ anti seized the shear bolt but it always appears that the bushing burns the rubber out, like its locking up on the shear bolt. Can anybody help? This cant be a normal thing with these,,, is it?
Thanks for any info
Randy

Old is correct on wobble box problems. I would not run the machine until checked. A damaged wobble shaft would be hard to find

I had the same problems on my 460 till I figured out that the bearings in the wobble box where bad. If I remember right the bearings that look sort of like universal caps, but don't remember for sure if it was them or the other bearings. But either way it was caused by the bears in the wobble box. I replaced that bushing 3 times till I talked to a dealer and he told me to check the bearings.

While it's possible the wobble box is causing your problem I wonder about how your installing the bushing into the cutter bar. If your beating it in with a hammer and a big socket it will fail in about 3 acres worth of cutting. Been there done that with my 469! It took me only twice to learn that this bushing should be PRESSED into place. Ever since I did that I've not had any problems.
