The last three summers I have had pproblems with the knotters missing on the Olver 520 baler that I have. I need to dig out the manual and try to go through the testing and calibration of the knotters. Can one properly setup a baler with out running any ahy through it? How many problems in baling is due to hay condition and windrow eveness. At times I can go 20 or 30 bales and no problems and then I can have every bale break for 5 bales or so.
Sometimes the problem is too much twine pieces hangin in the knotter plates and other times the knot is only formed on one end of the twine.
thoughts?

i had the same thing with my oliver 60t and i found that over the years the twine made a grove in the cutter arm on the knotter and would hang up knots and break the twine. the manual will give you great advise on how to set things up. you can do all the adjustments without hay, but cant really tell for sure how it will work under a load.

Tried out a t60 a couple years back, decided against it, and passed on buying it... Couldn't get the knotter to work consistantly. Differnt balls ot twine would change things - for instance going from 95% failures to 95% good knots. Had to have a helper ride the baler and tie the failures, as they came out - what a pain. Baler was sold to another, and am told he put in a new ball of twine, and the thing has worked fine ever since..... He's welcome to it!
